My Last Few Months...

...of working honestly, is not bad at all. If I were one to read this piece of self-indulgent writing, I'd be thinking "wow, this guy must be very busy working his butt off! Little wonder, it is after all peak time for auditors..."

Fortunately, that wasn't really the case. Sure, I've been working on weekends etc but that's mostly due to my own inefficiency.

I know KakCik would've really liked me to blog about the Kris Allen showcase (firstly thanks so much again for the tickets!!) and I know I would've really liked to blog about the Aizat-Faizal Tahir-Siti Nurhaliza concert. Heh. So maybe a little anecdote would do?

I must admit I was very late with downloading the songs so that I can listen to them and sing along - 2 days just isn't enough when you are someone who didn't follow AI8 (or AI, for that matter) and only started watching AI9 and hearing people say how the contestants this year are nowhere near as good as last year's. But that's a different point altogether. At least I kinda knew the rhythm of the songs and can say to myself in my head that yes, I've heard this one so I can kinda get groovy with it. While Kris can definitely perform, it's a little bit un-satisfying because he didn't perform his outstanding numbers from AI. But maybe he's bored doing that already, and the showcase is a place to showcase his new album. The sound system was a little bit stymied - the music was kinda a bit too loud so I can't really enjoy his vocals. I think he would definitely do well with acoustic versions that endears himself to the fans if it was a closed up, small venue like the one in The Gardens. Apart from that, I hope he makes a few more albums and then come back to Malaysia for a grander concert!

Konsert Satu Suara, was it? It was mostly attended by Faizal Tahir fanatics, I can safely tell you that. That guy got mad vocals and crazy showmanship, so much so that he actually did get me up and standing, clapping, singing and whatnot. Even the makciks were hullabaloo-ing like they were teenagers. Haha. It was expected and while I was certainly wow-ed, it was kind of forgettable. I can see FT fanatics coming with knives, pitchforks, daggers and whatever things they can use to poke me till I bleed to death, so I'm gonna stop there.

Siti as always left an impression. I first saw her at the Royal Albert Hall, and I was truly mesmerised. To see her rocking out her songs with 2 other guys is definitely superb. And she was still doing it ever so elegantly. Definitely the gem of Malaysian music industry as far as I'm concerned.

But it was the other guy, the AF dropout that really amazed and surprised me. So much so, that in fact after the concert, I went out and BOUGHT his album just so that I could maybe get it signed or something. Man, I was such a sucker! In retrospect, I definitely was caught up in the moment, but that serves as proof that Aizat left a deeper impression to me compared to FT. He opened the act, looking a little nervous I'd say, and there was little interaction with the crowd. But he kept on building and building. Song choice was quite a nice surprise too - I certainly did not expect him to sing Raihan's "Thank You Allah" when he mentioned he wanted to do a cover for a group that he always listen to when he was younger.

I suppose the part where I really sat and listened to him was when he was on the piano and sang his first single, "Hanya Kau Yang Mampu". In some ways, I think he kinda resembled Kris.. (KakCik please do not get enraged. Hear me out!) Both were the kind of guys who would go up to the stage and do what they know best, be it singing with a guitar or a piano. Both look like the kind of guys who are down to earth and humble, but both also could be a little bit crazy at times without going overboard. Of course I didn't know he could play the piano and that surprised me in a good way. Holy crap did I just likened Kris Allen to Aizat?? Haha.

So there goes my anecdote. Apart from that, I don't think I've been doing many fun stuff lately. Heck, I only watched Shutter Island yesterday. Iron Man 2? Maybe at the end of the month, when there's like only 1 show per day.

I'd like to end this senseless entry by expressing my unfathomable happy-angry feeling towards Red FM for being a radio station that enables me to propose to my fiance but also gave me a t-shirt which has spoiled 4 of my working shirts. Actually, I'm more angry to myself for not using my brain when I put my clothes in the washing machine.

It seems like the first sentence was some kind of a magic chant that made me update my blog. I hope it will not be used when we finally tie the knot :P

Ahh..shopping. I think I need to shop again to replace those soiled shirts. And I have half a mind to throw the red t-shirt away. Or maybe turn it into kain buruk.
